TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM hosted the 17th EASE (European Association of Science Editors) General Assembly and Conference organized with the theme "Quality Scientific Publishing". A total of 193 people from 36 different countries attended the conference held at Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Architecture between June 1-3, 2023. In addition to 61 participants from all over the world such as England, Croatia, Canada, Chile, Brazil, Finland, 132 people took part in the hybrid conference online.
In the opening speech of the conference, M. Mirat SATOĞLU, Director of TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, expressed his satisfaction with the organization of the international scientific event hosted by TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM in Turkey. He mentioned the services offered for researchers in accordance with the vision and mission of TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM. Satoğlu said that TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM provides national academic e-infrastructures that support advanced technologies, carries out activities to access scientific information, provides services to disseminate open source software and develop educational technologies. In addition, TUBITAK ULAKBIM provides the TR Index (National Citation Index) service, which is offered to increase the quality of scientific journals addressed in Turkey, with 11 scientific academic journals published in different disciplines and included in international distinguished indexes.
At the conference, 32 expert speakers with international experience presented in ten separate sessions. The sessions included talks on the principles of the editorial process in the context of quality features, qualified boards and refereeing features, management of journal expenses, digital programs and technological innovations, impact factor and journal performance, quality criteria for inclusion in elite indexes, and the impact of open access on journal quality. In the conference, which took place in an interactive and dynamic environment, questions from the participants were answered at the end of each session. Participants also benefited from courses organized by renowned trainers on "Publication ethics" and "How to be a successful scientific journal editor". The 17th EASE General Assembly and Conference was free of charge for 10 editors from the earthquake zone in Turkey and 2 editors from Syria.

At the General Assembly meeting held during the EASE Congress, the election results of the new Board of Directors were announced to the public. Prof. Dr. Cem UZUN, a long-standing member of the EASE Board of Directors, TUBITAK ULAKBIM TR Index Committee Member and Head of the Department of ENT Diseases at Koç University Faculty of Medicine, was elected EASE President for the 2023-2025 term. Specialist Sibel TABANLIOĞLU, TR Index Coordinator of TUBITAK ULAKBIM, has been a member of EASE for 2 years and has been the president of the Turkish branch.
