The seventh National High Performance Computing Conference was held under the title of BAŞARIM 2022, which aims to disseminate and develop national studies on High Performance Computing (HPC), transfer experiences and bring together stakeholders using this technology. The conference was organized in cooperation with TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, Sabancı University, Middle East Technical University and EuroCC@Türkiye was organized in a hybrid structure at Sabancı University, Altunizade Digital Campus between 11-13 May 2022 with the support of the project.
TÜBİTAK ULAKBIM Director Mehmet Mirat Satoğlu introduced Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, President of TÜBİTAK, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Verşan Kök, Rector of Middle East Technical University, and Prof. Dr. Yusuf Leblebici, Rector of Sabancı University. Prof. Dr. Ümit Çatalyürek from Amazon Web Service and Prof. Dr. Mateo Valero Cortés, Director of the Barcelona Supercomputer Center, attended the conference as invited speakers.
More than 50 people attended the conference in person and 297 people participated online, where 38 papers were presented in the field of ICD from various universities and companies in Turkey. In addition, "Working Group Meetings" were organized in various research areas such as computational fluid dynamics, RISCV architecture, large network analysis, blockchain and molecular dynamics simulations for researchers and practitioners to share their experiences and perspectives.
Students and researchers who defended their master's or doctoral theses in the field of AMD participated in the 5 Minute Thesis Competition, and the top three competitors were awarded as a result of the evaluations of the jury members.
Another competition at the conference was the hekaton organized under the title "Computhon 2022/1". As a result of the hekaton, which had the categories of parallel computing on multiple cores, parallel computing on multiple graphics processors (GPUs), distributed computing with multiple cores and multiple graphics processors on multiple servers, the winning competitors were presented their awards at the end of the conference.
BAŞARIM 2022 ended with a panel discussion titled "Current Status and Future of High Performance Computing in Turkey" with the participation of university, public and private sector representatives.
