"TR Index Regional Editor Workshop" was organized by TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM Cahit Arf Information Center in Edirne on May 06, 2019, hosted by Trakya University in order to increase the quality of national scientific publications and to introduce and train the new interface of TR Index, which provides National Citation Index and Performance Measurement.

In the workshop organized for scientific journal editors, board members and publishers, information was given about TR Index criteria and processes, TÜBİTAK Open Science Policy, editing, refereeing, ethical practices and predatory journals.

The program, which took place in four sessions, was attended by Prof. Dr. Erhan Tabakoğlu, Rector of Trakya University, Prof. Dr. Cem Uzun, Vice Rector, Dr. Lecturer Bülent Akyay, Director of Balkan Research Institute, Mustafa Sancar, Deputy Director of Cahit Arf Information Center, EASE (European Association of Science Editors) Turkey Chapter Members of Trakya University, TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM TR Index Group experts and academicians. Prof. Dr. Bülent Akyay, Deputy Director of Cahit Arf Information Center Mustafa Sancar, EASE (European Association of Science Editors) Turkey Chapter Trakya University Members, TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM TR Index Group experts and academicians attended the program.

In his speech, Mustafa Sancar, Deputy Director of Cahit Arf Information Center, thanked Trakya University for hosting the first of the Editorial Workshops and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Uzun for his great efforts in the realization of the workshop and stated that the programs for scientific journal editors, board members and publishers will continue in cooperation with various universities according to the regions.

Stating that Trakya University is an expert university on the Balkans, Rector Prof. Dr. Erhan Tabakoğlu stated that a new area of expertise has emerged and this area of expertise is "Journalism". He stated that they have reinforced their expertise in this field with the great efforts of Prof. Dr. Cem Uzun.

Stating that they have held very serious scientific meetings with the support of Trakya University Rector Prof. Dr. Erhan Tabakoğlu, Vice Rector and TR Index Committee Member Prof. Dr. Cem Uzun stated that they made the Turkish translation of the "Editor's Handbook" written by Pippa SMART together with TR Index Committee member Prof. Dr. Orhan Yılmaz based on the need in this field. Prof. Dr. Uzun stated that 146 participants from all over Turkey have registered and thanked the audience who came from far away to learn and share.

After the opening speeches, the sessions started. In the first session of the four-session workshop chaired by Mustafa Sancar, Deputy Director of Cahit Arf Information Center, Sibel Tabanlıoğlu, one of the TR Index experts, made presentations on "About TR Index-Processes" and Nuray Demirkol made presentations on "What Should I Pay Attention To To Be Included In TR Index? Journal Evaluation Criteria".

In the second session chaired by Remzi Özer, TR Index experts Mehmet Boz and Ebru Soyuyüce Aydın gave information on "TR Index Editor Process Management Training" and "Open Science Policy and Practices", respectively.

Prof. Dr. Lecturer. Prof. Dr. Cem Uzun, Vice Rector and Tr Index Committee Member, contributed to the third session chaired by Prof. Dr. Bülent Akyay with his presentations titled "Editorial - How Can You Improve Your Journal in Line with International Standards?" and "Ethics - Publication Ethics Practices with Examples for Editors".

Research Assistant. Assoc. In the last session chaired by Prof. Dr. Erdem Demiröz, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kadri Kıran presented "Refereeing (Consultancy)" and Prof. Dr. Zafer Koçak presented "Predatory Journals".
The workshop ended with the presentation of certificates to the participants and a souvenir photo session.
