TR Index, Turkey's largest peer-reviewed database, maintains its leadership in the field by becoming the most comprehensive full-text database as well as a Citation Database with newly added features.
In this context, the official launch and promotion event where the new features and interface of TR Index were shared with the public was held on 13 September 2019 at Congresium Ankara.
More than 350 participants attended the event, which included presentations and speeches by TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan MANDAL, TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM Director M. Mirat SATOĞLU, Bilkent University Rector Prof. Dr. Abdullah ATALAR, Clarivate Analytics Vice President and Editor-in-Chief James TESTA, Okan University Faculty of Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Semih Baskan, Prof. Dr. Umut AL Prof. Dr. Canan ULUOĞLU and Prof. Dr. Zafer KOÇAK and TR Index Expert Sibel TABANLIOĞLU.
TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan MANDAL emphasized the importance given by TÜBİTAK to the quality of our national publications and the national importance of the TR Index, which is one of the services carried out accordingly. He stated that today, when the quality and impact of publications are more important than the number of publications, national publications are now analyzed through the TR Index, and performance measurements have started to be provided according to the citation of researchers and journals, researchers, institutions and subject areas.
James TESTA, Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of Clarivate Analytics, emphasized that thanks to the TR Index, the number of journals with Turkish addresses in Web of Science has increased significantly.
Prof. Dr. Abdullah ATALAR, Rector of Bilkent University, emphasized the importance of paid journals and Prof. Dr. Semih BASKAN, Dean of Okan University Faculty of Medicine and former TR Index committee member, gave information about the history of TR Index.
The event continued with the presentations of Prof. Dr. Umut AL on the ecosystem of journal publishing in Turkey, Prof. Dr. Canan ULUOĞLU on ethics and Prof. Dr. Zafer KOÇAK on predatory journals.
Environmentally friendly recyclable products were used in the event and 200 saplings were donated to TEMA Foundation on behalf of TR Dizin.
