TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM Fully Meets the Increasing Demands of Universities Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM has taken the necessary measures to ensure that its services are not interrupted in any way from the first moment the COVID-19 outbreak came to the agenda.

In this context, many measures have been taken and continue to be taken to prevent the pandemic from affecting internet and cloud services. In addition to improving existing services, a new service launched due to the increasing need for video conferencing was made available to universities.

Necessary measures were taken for the increasing demand of universities for ULAKNET and internet services and their demands were met promptly.

Bu kapsamda Ankara, İstanbul ve İzmir’deki ULAKNET ana omurga devrelerinde %100 kapasite artışı yapabilecek şekilde yeni 100Gbps ve 10Gbps kartlar ve devreler hizmete alınmıştır.

All the measures taken and the work carried out by TÜBİTAK ULAKİM were shared with the universities; the measures taken by the universities themselves, the services they will provide, the bandwidth they may need and their requests were received. The requests of the universities were quickly evaluated by our Center and fulfilled completely.

Bu kapsamda yüzün üzerinde ULAKNET bağlantısı talepler doğrultusunda ortalama %60 oranında artırılmıştır.

In addition to the ULAKNET service, expansion and improvement works are being carried out urgently in the Distance Education Infrastructure, which has been provided to some universities for many years through Cloud services, and actions are continued to be taken within the limits of resources in line with the intensity and new demands to be experienced.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in order to meet the rapidly increasing need for video conferencing as well as improving the existing services as TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, the video conferencing service was commissioned by the ULAKBulut team as a new service and made available to universities.

In addition, TÜBİTAK Popular Journals and TÜBİTAK COVID-19 Portal, which attracted great public interest, started to be offered from the ULAKBİM data center due to their high bandwidth requirements.

TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM continues to support universities and academics to produce uninterrupted information with the measures it has taken in these days when digital transformation has become a necessity.
