Good news continues to come from our collaboration with SCOAP3, an exemplary open access initiative in the field of high energy physics. As you know, we announced last April that the number of High Energy Physics books made open access by the SCOAP3 consortium has increased to 26.

In a short period of time, through the concerted and collective efforts of its members from around the world, SCOAP3 has demonstrated the feasibility of collective action to achieve equitable and sustainable open access publishing. In this context, we are delighted to announce that the SCOAP3 consortium has reached a milestone by publishing more than 50,000 research articles in open access journals.

Through partnerships with 11 leading journals, SCOAP3 has published the vast majority of research papers on High Energy Physics open access since 2014. These research papers include, among thousands of others, the recent paper on Black Hole Entropy by Stephen Hawking and colleagues. It also includes important contributions from research organizations and institutions worldwide, including a paper from the CMS and ATLAS collaborations on measurements of Higgs boson production and decay rates.

Founded in 2014, SCOAP3 is a partnership of more than 3,000 libraries, funding agencies and research organizations from 44 countries and 3 intergovernmental organizations hosted at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).

Turkey is one of the 44 member countries of SCOAP3 and TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM is the representative of Turkey.
