National Competence Center (NCC) Turkey has successfully completed the second year of the EuroCC Project. Under the coordination of TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM and in partnership with Middle East Technical University and Sabancı University, the project expanded the NCC structure by including Istanbul Technical University National Center for High Performance Computing (ITU-UHeM).
In order to promote the use of High Performance Computing (HPC)/ High Performance Data Analytics (HPDA)/ Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, NCC organized many events such as trainings, workshops, information days, SME webinars and seminars targeting academia, public and private sector representatives. These through dissemination activities both national and international communities were reached.
Many researchers and research groups working in the field of AMD in the country participated in the BAŞARIM 2022 conference organized within the scope of the EuroCC project. In addition, two separate meetings were organized in Ankara and Istanbul as part of the collaboration with the Barcelona Supercomputer Center (BSC). Working meetings were held on the architecture, user support and applications of MareNostrum-5, a pre-exascale system whose consortium includes Turkey. Information days were organized to direct researchers working in the field of AMD to EuroHPC Joint Initiative (EuroHPC JU) calls and European Centers of Excellence (CoE).
NCC Turkey will use the project as an example of industry practice within the scope of the project. 29 case studies initiated. 20 of the case studies in the fields of HPC(AMD)/HPDA/AI have been completed and 10 of the case studies in the fields of success story turned.
In addition to the case studies, NCC Turkey has also organized a project to assess SMEs' competencies in the field of ICM and provide them with professional feedback. technical report prepared. The main objective of this study is to establish a methodology that identifies the level of maturity of SMEs in the field of AMD and defines the necessary support mechanism in areas where they are lacking.
As Turkey, we have successfully completed the EuroCC Project on December 31, 2022. The continuation of the EuroCC Project (EuroCC 2) will start on January 1, 2023 with the aim of ensuring the sustainability of the NCC mechanism. The EuroCC 2 project aims to increase the adaptation of academia, industry and the public sector to future EuroHPC architectures through the promotion of NCC technologies.
