At the "Technology, R&D and Quality Summit in Education" organized by the Ministry of National Education, Pardus, our national operating system distribution, which is being carried out by TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, met with the participants.
At the summit held in Istanbul on September 05-07, 2024, TUBITAK ULAKBIM Director M. Mirat Satoğlu made evaluations together with important names of the sector in the panel "The Impact of Digital Transformation on Education Technology Investments in Turkey". In the panel moderated by Ahmet Şamil Demircan, Fatih Akgül, CIO of Huawei Corporate Business Solutions, and Harun Çiftçi, Deputy General Manager of SEBİT, discussed the innovations and opportunities brought by digitalization to educational technologies.
Turkey's role in technology investments and its future were discussed in this session that opened the doors to the digital future in education.
In the panel, M. Mirat Satoğlu, Director of TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, emphasized that one of the oldest and most ambitious digital transformation projects in Turkey is the "FATIH Project in Education". He said that TUBITAK and MoNE have been working together on a wide range of projects, from the EBA Education portal to school internet access, from various mobile applications to logging systems and the touchscreen operating system Pardus ETAP, and as a result, they have produced a wide range of useful software products and systems.
Stating that many public and private institutions (MoNE, Presidency of Strategy and Budget, Presidency of Religious Affairs, AFAD, Ministry of National Defense, Ziraat Participation Bank) are moving forward by centering Pardus in their digital transformation efforts, Satoğlu said that MoNE is by far the institution that uses Pardus the most among public institutions. Stating that Pardus is used in interactive boards and computer classes in schools, M. Mirat Satoğlu stated that they aim to use Pardus ETAP 23 version in approximately 650 thousand interactive boards by the end of 2025. Stating that the number of interactive boards on which Pardus is installed today is around 222 thousand, Satoğlu said that LiderAhenk, a product of Pardus, has been designed as a new version in line with the needs of the Ministry of National Education in order to manage a large scale of 650 thousand computers. M. Mirat Satoğlu said that TUBITAK ULAKBIM also supports the efforts initiated by the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey to popularize open source software in Turkey.
At the panel, Ahmet Şamil Demircan, Deputy Director General of MoNE YEĞİTEK, stated that MoNE's goals are big and that Pardus operating system will be used on all interactive boards and approximately 68 thousand computers in 3500 new innovative classrooms.
