EuroCC@Turkey High Performance Computing (HPC) Competence Center organized the EuroCC@Turkey High Performance Computing Winter School event between 8-13 February 2021 under the coordination of TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM and with the contributions of METU and Sabancı Universities in order to increase awareness and competencies in the field of HPC and to support academia-industry cooperation. In this context, at the Winter School;
-Parallel Programming,
GPU Programming with -CUDA,
-Big Data Storage, Processing,
- Machine Learning,
- Molecular Dynamics Simulations with LAMMPS,
- Trainings and applications on OpenFoam, Basilisk, SU2 and Fluid Dynamics Simulations were held. In addition to these, presentations on different applications of YBH in academia and industry were also included in the event.
The Winter School ended with a panel discussion on "High Performance Computing Ecosystem: Competencies, Problems, Suggestions", where representatives from academia, private sector and HPC Center evaluated the sectoral use of HPC from different aspects, the current state of the HPC ecosystem in Turkey, the problems encountered and the solution suggestions.
While 2651 participants registered for the winter school, % 54.5 of them were undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students, % 17 of them were academic staff and % 28.5 of them were from the public and private sectors. The interest shown by the private sector in the winter school is pleasing.
On average, 250 participants followed the webinars broadcast live on TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM YouTube channel. Those who could not attend the live program followed the webinars via video recordings. Each webinar reached between 200 and 600 viewers.
