One of the world's most respected organizations for research information systems, open science infrastructures and research management EuroCRIS Spring Membership Meeting (SMM) 2025this year for the first time in Turkey organized. The meeting was hosted by experienced librarians from Izmir Institute of Technology.
The event, held in Urla, Izmir between November 25-27, 2025, brought together experts from different countries of the world as well as Europe on the IZTECH campus. For three days, Turkey's development in research infrastructures, open access policies and its strategic position in the CRIS (Current Research Information Systems) ecosystem were discussed from an international perspective.
Ayşe Damla Çelik, who attended the meeting representing TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, in her comprehensive presentation;
- Progress in Turkey's open science policies,
- National services of TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM (Aperta, Harman, DergiPark, TR Index, EKUAL),
- Transformative agreements with Wiley and Springer Nature,
- Experience and practice comparisons with other countries,
and made a comprehensive assessment on such topics.
In particular, discussions on transformative agreements attracted a lot of interest among international participants and Turkey's rising open access performance drew attention.
As TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, we continue to work with the same determination and diligence to strengthen the national open science ecosystem and develop more effective collaborations on a global scale.
