The 5th National Open Access Conference (AE2016) will be held in Ankara on October 27, 2016 in cooperation with Izmir Institute of Technology (IYTE), TÜBİTAK, Anatolian University Libraries Consortium (ANKOS), Hacettepe University and hosted by TÜBİTAK.

The 4th National Open Access Workshop (AE2015) was hosted by TÜBİTAK on October 19-21, 2015, where issues such as free access to scientific publications and data supported by public resources, making these publications and data available through institutional digital archives, and the policies, strategies, legislation, standards and software infrastructures required for open access (OA) applications were discussed.

We have been talking about open access for a long time and we see that open access has become better known. Now we need to focus on the small steps that researchers, librarians, students and all those committed to open working can take to make research open. By embracing the importance of open access rather than debating it, all stakeholders should start taking concrete steps to support and encourage their colleagues by making their own work more open and usable, making openness in research a reality.

The 5th National Open Access Conference, which will be held under the theme "Open in Action: We Understood, We Supported, Now It's Time to Act" theme, the 5th National Open Access Conference will be an important milestone in the development of the open access movement in our country and in achieving the goals. The conference, which will be held in conjunction with a national workshop on the OpenAIRE Project, will include competent invited speakers from our country and the world, and will focus on the following topics.

The draft program of the conference will be shared in the coming days.

The week of October 24-30, 2016, which includes the dates of AE2016, will also be celebrated with various events with the theme "Open in Action" as part of Open Access Week all over the world.
