The data obtained from 5123 proteins belonging to the PHACT (Phylogeny-Aware Computing of Tolerance for Missense Mutations) paper which was conducted by Ogün Adebali, a faculty member at Sabancı University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences and published in the Oxford MBE journal in August (https://doi.org/10.1093/molbev/msac114), is now available to all scientists at the Aperta Türkiye Open Archive. With the recently uploaded data sets, the amount of data in Aperta increased to 5133.
The study, which was also the subject of the August cover of "Molecular Biology and Evolution", one of the world's most respected journals in the field of evolutionary biology, describes the PHACT algorithm, which can determine with high accuracy whether variants have a disease-causing effect.
Most of the numerical calculations in the article were carried out in TRUBA (Turkish National Science e-Infrastructure).
Ogün Adebali and his team are also the first scientists to upload data to Aperta. The article they uploaded, "Phylogenetic analysis of SARS-CoV-2 genomes in Türkiye", was downloaded 578 times in a short while, helping the scientists' work.
We would like to congratulate Ogün Adebali and his team for their contribution by uploading the largest data set to the Turkish Open Archive Aperta, and we would like to thank Dr. Emrah Akkoyun, Chief Researcher at TUBITAK ULAKBIM, who contributed greatly to the uploading of the data and took part in the project.
