A training seminar coordinated by ULAKBİM JournalPark started with the opening speeches of Mehmet Mirat Satoğlu, Director of TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM and Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlker Murat Ar, Vice President of TÜBİTAK. While Satoğlu addressed the evolution JournalPark since its beginning and how its service potential had improved, Vice President Ar pointed out where the academic periodical publishing stood in the world and how important it was for scientific studies in Turkey to be recognized in the framework of international standards.
JournalPark, hosting approximately 2,000 national academic journals, ensures electronic management of all processes from application to publication of an article through ULAKBİM Journal Systems (UDS) During the seminar, the participants attended hands-on-training on the processes concerning Editors, Referees, and Journal Management through UDS.
Approximately 200 people from different cities of Turkey, most of whom were journal editors, attended the training seminar held on 22 March 2018 in Ankara. The training was also broadcast live on the Internet.
The JournalPark training seminars will continue in a number of cities including Istanbul, Trabzon and Izmir. The aim is to use UDS widely at an advanced level in order to improve the academic periodical publishing in accordance with the applicable standards.
