We have released version 17.5 of Pardus, which continues to be developed by TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM.
Pardus 17.5 is the latest interim release of the Pardus 17 family. Just keep your Pardus 17 installed system up to date to observe the changes. With this latest release of Pardus 17 LTS (Long Term Support) to 01.05.2021. Pardus 17 will continue to receive updates, but will not be disk-molded with a new release. Pardus reserves the right to re-release the disk disk update of the current latest version over time with an announcement without changing the version.
The development of Pardus continues at full speed and Pardus 19.0 will be released in July 2019.
What is new?
- Fixed use case issues in many graphical interfaces encountered by end users.
- Many system performance-impacting package updates and optimizations have been made.
- Over 200 security updates including packages and patches have been added to the system.
- The default web browser Firefox has been updated to version 60.5.1.
- The default email client Thunderbird has been updated to version 60.5.1.
- The default media player VLC has been updated to version 3.0.6.
- The default office document application Libreoffice has been updated to version 6.1.5.1.
- The default app store has been updated to pardus-store version 0.3.1~beta4 and content management has been made dynamically editable without remote updates.
- Fixed bugs in the default login screen shell lightdm-gtk-greeter and sssd, which communicates with user management systems on the backend, and made ldap work flawlessly with the central user management system.
- The installation process through the live boot system was abandoned in favor of only opening and installing the installation environment.
- The LTS label has been placed on the nomenclature of the disk dies that will be supported for the long term.
- The package tracker, where the difference of Pardus from Debian, from which Pardus is derived, can be observed live, will be launched on 11.03.2019 at tracker.pardus.org.tr.
