Pardus 2013, which is available for use by the public, SMEs and the private sector, was introduced at a press conference attended by TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Yücel Altunbaşak. With the new version, Pardus' web portal and call center were also put into service.

Launched in 2003, the Pardus operating system has so far met its users with 5 main and 2 corporate versions. The Pardus project, which was carried out within TÜBİTAK BİLGEM, was moved to TÜBİTAK National Academic Network and Information Center (ULAKBİM) in Ankara last year to create a close working environment with public institutions. ULAKBIM, which aims to create an operating system that public institutions and SMEs can use safely, with high performance, Turkish-supported applications, that is constantly kept up-to-date and secure, that is low-cost, and that prioritizes functionality and visuality, has completed the Pardus 2013 version. The 2013 version of Pardus was introduced at a press conference attended by TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Yücel Altunbaşak, ULAKBİM Director Ahmet Kaplan and Pardus Project Manager Abdullah Erol.

Speaking at a press conference held at ULAKBIM's building in Bilkent, TÜBİTAK President Prof. Altunbaşak explained that the stable version, which is available in 32 and 64 bit architectures, is aimed at public institutions and SMEs. Stating that there is a large number of software that can meet the needs of home users in the software repository, Prof. Altunbaşak noted that home users can have a customized operating system by adding the applications they want on the corporate version.
