Another good news came from our cooperation with SCOAP3, which TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM represents on behalf of Turkey. SCOAP3 (Sponsorship Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics), headquartered at CERN, supports research in the field of high energy physics. In this context, as TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, we supported the "SCOAP3 for Books" pilot application initiated by SCOAP3 in 2019 to make books on high energy physics open access.

As part of this pilot, the average annual usage of 19 Taylor & Francis titles increased by over %3,000 in 2021-2022 compared to the three years before they were made open access. Open access has also made these books available in regions with limited library budgets, resulting in a five-fold increase in the average number of countries accessing the content. As a result of these developments, Taylor&Francis will continue to be part of SCOAP3 for Books, as the pilot evolves into an ongoing program to make new eBook editions available to everyone.

These data from the SCOAP3 for Books pilot demonstrated the power of open access. Proving the positive impact of open access funding, the SCOAP3 for Books pilot will make monographs and textbooks selected by SCOAP3 open access at no cost to the authors.

SCOAP³ is a one-of-a-kind partnership of more than 3,000 libraries in 45 countries, major funding agencies and research centers, and 3 intergovernmental organizations. Working with leading publishers, SCOAP³ makes key journals and books in high energy physics open access at no cost to the authors.

As TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, we attach importance to open access; we continue our support for making quality scientific studies available to all researchers around the world.
