Within the scope of efforts to improve the quality of education offered to gifted students, the third Workshop on the Development of Curricula for Special Abilities was held in cooperation with TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM and the Ministry of National Education General Directorate of Special Education and Guidance Services.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop held in Ankara between 24-28 September 2018, general coordinator Prof. Dr. Uğur Sak gave information about the workshop program.

In his speeches, ULAKBIM Director Mehmet Mirat SATOĞLU, who mentioned the development of curriculum for special talents and other studies carried out jointly with the General Directorate of Special Education and Guidance Services of the Ministry of National Education, thanked everyone who contributed to the studies and wished it to be a productive workshop.

Ahmet Emre Bilgili, Director General of Special Education and Guidance Services of the Ministry of National Education, stated that they are in the process of bringing gifted students to formal education to meet their needs. Emphasizing that the programs will be implemented in a single school affiliated to the research and application center and will not be limited to a pilot study, Bilgili expressed his satisfaction with the work carried out with TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM.

On the second and third day of the workshop, Alpaslan Durmuş, Head of the Board of Education and Discipline of the Ministry of National Education, visited the workshop team and shared his experiences, opinions and suggestions about the work.

The curricula developed for pre-school and middle school levels were evaluated and revised through group work in the 5-day workshop with the participation of MoNE and TÜBİTAK representatives, curriculum development experts, expert academics and teachers.
