TR Index Committees started their work with the first meetings of the Social Sciences Committee on February 6, 2019 and the Science Committee on February 12, 2019 after the appointment and assignment of new members.

TÜBİTAK ULAKBIM Director M. Mirat SATOĞLU opened the meetings where information and evaluations about TR Index processes and journals that applied to be included in TR Index were examined.

Satoğlu gave information about the history of the TR Index, the studies carried out in recent years and the related developments, and the new system and process, and emphasized that sufficient sensitivity should be shown to quality by mentioning the increase in the number of publications in recent years. Referring to the value gained with the criterion article added to the Associate Professorship Criteria by the Interuniversity Board (ÜAK) regarding TR Index, Satoğlu stated that successful studies will continue with the contributions of the Committee members.

TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal attended the meeting of the Social Sciences Committee and received information about the work of the Committee members. Prof. Mandal stated that the volume and quality of publications from Turkey can be measured through publications in international indexes, and that similar measurements can be made through our national data with the renewed structure and interface of our national system TR Index. Stating that competency mapping will be carried out with the data to be obtained through the journals included in the TR Index and the projects supported by TÜBİTAK, Mandal emphasized that the work of the Committees will support and guide national publications, especially in increasing the quality of publications.

The new system and interface were also introduced by TR Index experts at the meeting. Researchers, editors, experts and Committee members who will use the system were informed about the areas to be developed and new features to be added to the relevant modules, and the opinions and suggestions of the Committee members were received.
