Within the scope of the EKUAL Project carried out by TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, access to more than 2,300 electronic journals of Springer Nature publishing house is provided. The existing 2022-2024 Springer Nature agreement, which was an access (Read) agreement, has been converted into a "Read & Publish" model as of January 1, 2024 to cover the period 2024-2026.
Under the national Springer Nature "open access article publishing agreement", all EKUAL member universities and institutions will continue to have access to more than 2,300 e-journals of Springer Nature. In addition, for "Original Article", "Review Article" and "Continuing Education" type publications in Q1 and Q2 Group Springer Nature Hybrid Journals in Web of Science (SCI, SSCI, AHCI), the corresponding authors will be able to receive open access (OA) support from member institutions. The Article Processing Charge (APC) of the publications within the scope will be covered by TÜBİTAK.
The agreement signed between TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM and Springer Nature became active as of January 01, 2024.
Under this agreement, there is an annual quota for publishing AE articles. In case the quota is exhausted, APC fees will have to be paid by the authors or their institutions.
According to the terms of the agreement, there will be no "AE article quota allocation" for institutions. If requested by the author, the publication of the corresponding author whose article is accepted in the journals in question will be ranked according to the order of arrival of the publication and if there is a quota, TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM will approve the AE publication of the articles that meet the criteria.

It will be sufficient for the corresponding author of the publication, which is in the above-mentioned journal group and publication type and for which AE support will be provided if there is a quota, to be an employee of the EKUAL Member institution and to mention the name of the member institution under his/her name in the publication.
