Within the scope of the cooperation protocol signed between TÜBİTAK and Middle East Technical University (METU) in the second quarter of 2019, the construction of TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM MODSİMMER Data Center, which was established in the METU MODSİMMER building, continues in the white space and exterior area.
The foundation of the external area where the mechanical and electrical components will be located was laid recently. Expected to be operational in the second half of 2022, the Data Center will host ULAKNET and TRUBA Research Infrastructures under the management of TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM.
ULAKNET provides services to more than 1100 units belonging to 235 institutions, including all public universities in Turkey, some foundation universities, their faculties and vocational colleges, the Police Academy, TÜBİTAK units, and public institutions such as ÖSYM, TAEK, AFAD, TTK, AYK and YÖK.
TRUBA is a National Research e-Infrastructure of great national strategic importance, directly serving more than 4000 researchers from 125 different research institutions to contribute to their scientific studies, carrying out joint projects with different public institutions and research institutes, and taking part in 15 European Union Framework Program Projects since the infrastructure was commissioned. TRUBA, which has high computing and storage power, currently serves with more than 25,000 computing cores, 216 graphics processors, an average of 13M cores/hour per month and 14.5 Pbytes of high-performance data storage.
