The R&D and innovation cooperation protocol signed with Uzbekistan has started to bear fruit.
In order to improve scientific and technological relations between our country and Uzbekistan, TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM and the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan-MID Uzbekistan) A cooperation protocol was signed on April 30, 2018, enabling comprehensive relations in the field of R&D and innovation.
Within the scope of the protocol, the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan submitted to TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM their request to cooperate with TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM in the creation and execution of scientific and technical databases; conducting analyses in the field of science and innovation; working with international scientific and technical databases for the development of human resources; implementation of international and analytical systems and digitalization of scientific statistics.
Following the preliminary preparations made with the Center for Scientific and Technical Information (CSTI) of Uzbekistan with the approval of the TÜBİTAK Presidency, the Uzbek delegation was invited to Ankara. On July 4, 2022, M. Mirat Satoğlu, Director, Halil Kahraman, Deputy Director and expert staff attended the meeting held at TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM on behalf of ULAKBİM, while CSTI Deputy Director Bobomurodov Saidbek Qudratugli, Head of Department Saidikramov Abror Saidolimovich and expert staff attended the meeting on behalf of the Uzbek delegation.
During the meeting, ULAKBIM and CSTI made presentations and after the presentations, the "Memorandum of Understanding" prepared by both parties was signed.
Recognizing the importance of science and technology in the development of their national economies, both sides expressed the desire to strengthen and develop scientific and technological cooperation on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.
Within the framework of cooperation, the parties agreed to explore possibilities for joint research, development and innovation projects; exchange of individual scientists for the purpose of conducting academic networks; organization of internships, mutual visits, cooperation and participation in joint academic scientific and technological events; exchange of information on academic networks and participation in the European Union Framework Programs (EU FPs) for research, development and innovation.
