The 6th National Open Access Conference (AE2017)
The 6th National Open Access Conference (AE2017), organized by Izmir Institute of Technology (İYTE), TÜBİTAK, Anatolian University Libraries Consortium (ANKOS) and Hacettepe University, with TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM as a member of the Conference Committee, took place from 24 to 26 October 2017, hosted by İYTE, with approximately 325 participants, at Atatürk Cultural Center, Ege University (Izmir).
With the theme “Open Science for a Better Future”, the 6th National Open Access Conference was held in connection with a national workshop on open data under the project OpenAIRE2020. During the Conference, detailed discussions were made on what to do to raise awareness of open access, open science and open data and to harmonize the open access policies, strategies, legislation, infrastructure and services in Turkey with those in the European Union. Mr. M. Mirat SATOĞLU, Manager of TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, made a presentation titled “TÜBİTAK and Open Science".
The following topics were addressed during the conference with participants including expert and respected speakers from Turkey and overseas, university chancellors, academics, researchers, publishers, librarians, journal editors, research office personnel, and representatives of funders:

The week of 23 to 29 October 2017, containing the dates of AE2017, was globally celebrated with diverse events as Open Access Week with the theme “Open in Order To...”
