The protocol on cooperation in the construction of electronic communication infrastructure was signed between TUBITAK ULAKBIM and Izmir Metropolitan Municipality in 2020 to ensure that ULAKNET terminals within the borders of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality are connected directly through their infrastructure.
Ege University's ULAKNET connection, the first phase of the works under the signed protocol, was commissioned by establishing a fiber-optic infrastructure between ULAKNET IZMIR POP in Dokuz Eylül University's Rectorate Building and Ege University's campus.
This work aims to provide researchers with a flexible and sustainable infrastructure with high capacity, national and international connections compatible with new technologies.
ULAKNET fiber optic studies in Izmir province will continue with Phase 2.
