TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM and Kayseri Chamber of Commerce (KTO) signed a protocol with ceremony to popularize Pardus in Kayseri.
The signing ceremony was held at at KTO’s Service Building where Mahmut HİÇYILMAZ, Chairman of the Board of Directors of KTO, pointed out that more than 15 thousand computers had switched their operating system to the national operating system and KTO signed the protocol with TÜBİTAK to popularize Pardus in Kayseri. “Turkey has made many achievements and gains in the past 15 years in economic, social and political arenas, making it get closer step by step to the country’s objective to be in the list of top 10 economies in the world. Turkey wants to reduce its dependence on foreign sources by means of national production, and has achieved important gains in information technologies by acting with the same understanding. The project of Pardus Operating System is indicative of how far Turkey has come in information technologies. Since 2003 TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM has been working to make Pardus a sustainable operating system with capacity to compete. Over 15 thousand computers have switched to Pardus as their operating system thanks to the direct and indirect support provided by TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM. Now, Kayseri Chamber of Commerce is signing a cooperation protocol with TÜBİTAK ULAKBİMin order to contribute to that transformation and popularize Pardus in Kayseri,” the Chairman said.
“Of all the chambers of commerce affiliated with TOBB Kayseri Chamber of Commerce (KTO) is the first chamber to make a protocol with TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM."
HİÇYILMAZ highlighted that they were the first chamber of commerce among those affiliated with TOBB to make a protocol with TÜBİTAK, and “With TÜBİTAK’s support, our primary objective is to ensure the IT companies in Kayseri become specialized in Pardus. In this respect, we are going to organize trainings, seminars and promotional activities to popularize Pardus as an operating system. We will also get resources to provide consultancy services for our members to make a smooth transition to PARDUS. By signing this protocol, our ultimate aim is to support a national project by implementing in Kayseri and to contribute to the IT companies’ getting new fields of business. The first step is to provide training on Pardus from 13 to 17 November 2017 in our chamber,” he said.
“Most extensive signatures have been put to popularize Pardus in private sector.”
Mehmet Mirat SATOĞLU, Institute Manager of TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, stated that the process of transition to the national operating system Pardus in municipalities and public hospitals continued, and “We are very happy to make this most extensive protocol with the private sector and make it with Kayseri Chamber of Commerce,” he added.
After the speeches, Mahmut HİÇYILMAZ, Chairman of the Board of Directors of KTO, and Mehmet Mirat SATOĞLU, Institute Manager of TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, signed a protocol. Mahmut HİÇYILMAZ, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kayseri Chamber of Commerce, Celal HASNALÇACI, Vice Chairman of KTO, Mehmet Mirat SATOĞLU, Institute Manager of TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, Dr. Cengiz ÇELİK, Pardus Project Coordinator, Tarık YÜCE, Council Member of KTO, Namık Kemal YEKTİN, 9th Chairman of the Professional Committee, and committee members were present at the protocol ceremony.
