After the appointment and assignment of new members, TR Index Committees have started their activities with the first meetings of Social Sciences Committees on February 6, 2019 and Science Committees on February 12, 2019.
The Director of TUBITAK ULAKBIM M. Mirat SATOĞLU has led the opening session of the meetings where information and evaluations about TR Index processes would be provided and journals that have applied to be included in the TR Index would be evaluated.
Satoğlu provided information on the history of the TR Index, recent studies and related developments and the new system and process. He emphasized the need to show sufficient sensitivity to the quality by referring to the increase in the number of publications in recent years.
Addressing the value obtained by the criterion material relevant to the TR Index added to the Associate Professorship Criteria by the Interuniversity Counsel (ÜAK), Satoğlu stated that the successful work would continue with the contribution of the committee members.
The President of TUBITAK Prof. Dr. Hasan MANDAL attended the meeting of the Social Sciences Committee and received information on the work of the Committee members. Mandal stated that the volume and quality of publications origination from Turkey can be measured through publications included in international indexes, and added that similar measurements could be made through our national data with the renewed structure of our national system TR Index and its interface. Mandal indicated that competency mapping would be carried out with the data obtained from the journals included within TR Index and the projects supported by TUBITAK. He stressed that the work of the Committees will support and guide the national publications, in particular in improving the qualifications of publications.
