In addition to being the most comprehensive full-text database, Turkey’s largest refereed database TR Index continues its leadership in the field by gaining the Citation Database title with its newly added features.
In this context, the official opening and introduction event where the new features and interface of TR Index was announced to the public, was held in Congresium Ankara on September 13, 2019.
More than 350 people attended the event where presentations and speeches of TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan MANDAL, TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM Director M. Mirat SATOĞLU, Bilkent University Rector Prof. Dr. Abdullah ATALAR, Clarivate Analytics Vice President and Editor-in-Chief James TESTA, Dean of the Medicine Faculty in Okan University Prof. Dr. Semih Baskan, Prof. Dr. Umut AL Prof. Dr. Canan ULUOĞLU and Prof. Dr. Zafer KOÇAK, and TR Index Specialist Sibel TABANLIOĞLU took place.
TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan MANDAL emphasized the importance given by TÜBİTAK to the quality of our national publications and the national importance of TR Index which is one of the services provided accordingly. He stated that, in this day and time, when quality and impact of the publications are more important than numbers, the national publications are now analyzed on TR Index and performance measurements with the references of researches and journals according to researcher, institution and subject fields are being performed.
Clarivate Analytics Vice President and Editor-in-Chief James TESTA emphasized that the number of journals on Web of Science which are issued from Turkey has increased significantly thanks to TR Index.
In the event where the rector of Bilkent University, Prof. Dr. Abdullah ATALAR, emphasized the importance of paid journals, Prof. Dr. Semih BASKAN who is the Medicine Faculty Dean of Okan University and former committee member of TR Index gave information on the history of TR Index.
The event continued with the speeches and presentations of Prof. Dr. Umut AL on the ecosystem of magazine publishing activity in Turkey; Prof. Dr. Canan ULUOĞLU on ethics; and Prof. Dr Zafer KOÇAK on predatory journals.
Eco-friendly and recyclable products were used in the event and 200 plants were donated to TEMA Foundation on behalf of TR Index.
