TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM Fully Meets the Increasing Demands of Universities Due to COVID-19 Pandemic.
TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM has taken the necessary measures to ensure that its services do not fail in any way from the first moment of this COVID-19 pandemic.
In this context, many measures have been taken and continue to be taken as far as predicted to prevent the pandemic from affecting internet and cloud services. Also, the new service started due to the increasing need for video conferencing in addition to the improvement of existing services, was made available to universities.
Necessary measures were taken for ULAKNET and internet services of universities, which increased in this process, and their demands were met immediately.
In this context, new 100Gbps and 10Gbps cards and circuits were put into service in order to increase the capacity by 100% in ULAKNET main backbone circuits in Ankara, İstanbul and İzmir.
As TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, all measures and actions were shared with universities, and the demands of the universities regarding the measures they have taken, the services they will provide, the bandwidth they may need have been received. The demands of the universities were quickly evaluated by our Center and fulfilled completely.
In this context, over a hundred ULAKNET connections were increased by an average of 60% in line with the demands.
In addition to the ULAKNET service, while the expansion and improvement actions in the Distance Education Infrastructure, which has been given to some universities for many years through Cloud services, are continuing urgently, actions continue to be taken on the basis of resources in line with the busyness to be experienced and new demands.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, in order to improve the existing services as well as to meet the rapidly increasing need for video conferencing, video conferencing service has been put into use as a new service and made available to universities by the ULAKBulut team.
In addition, TÜBİTAK Popular Magazines and TÜBİTAK COVID-19 Portal, which attract great public attention, started to be provided from the ULAKBİM data center due to the high bandwidth necessity.
With the measures it takes in this time when digital transformation has become a necessity, TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM continues to support universities and academicians for them to produce information without interruption.
