The event was held online on October 26, 2021. During the program, which started with the presentation of ULAKBIM Director M. Mirat Satoglu, the President of TUBITAK, Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, gave a presentation titled "Succeeding together in our ecosystem with Aperta Turkey Open Access Archive." In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Mandal said, "We are trying to ensure that those who produce knowledge and those who use knowledge work together in the TUBITAK funding programs," and stated that open science should now become a culture.

TUBA President Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker, who supported the event with his participation, also stated that Aperta Turkey Open Archive would enable our academics to communicate, share and produce at both national and international levels, and achieve optimal impact [MM1]  at the international level with various multidisciplinary centers, and thanked all those who contributed.

"Open Science and Equality: Developments at TUBITAK" was moderated by Ebru Soyuyüce Aydın, with the participation of Dr. Mahur Turan, Assoc Prof. Dr. Zehra Taşkın, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Güleda Dogan. Aydın explained that the Aperta TUBITAK Open Archive, initiated in 2019, covers the projects and publications directly or indirectly funded by TUBITAK and their data and that the Aperta Turkey Open Archive has been opened to the whole of Turkey, and the two systems have been merged into a single national repository. She emphasized that data uploaded to the system now comes with free DOI support.

Dr. Mahur TURAN, in his presentation on "ARDEB Projects and Open Science Policy," talked about the European Union's approaches to public data. Dr. Turan pointed out that digitization is one of the priority issues of the EU, and this means that today data is produced everywhere, and economic growth is sought by transforming this data into valuable sources. He stated that by 2030, it is predicted to add 7-10 billion euros in value by increasing the gross national product by 1-1.5% during the year. Dr. Turan also mentioned in his presentation the developments related to the preparation of the data management plan. He talked about uploading publications from TUBITAK supported projects in ARDEB on Aperta and the work to be done in the future.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Güleda Doğan and Assoc. Prof. Zehra Taşkın, in their interactive presentations, first elaborated on the reasons for establishing the Open Science Portal and explained that the aim is to collect all the Open Science studies that ULAKBIM has conducted so far on this portal.

Dr. Doğan explained that they created the data management plan as the first study following the Research Data Management Training Portal (https://acikveri.ulakbim.gov.tr/) and have since been working on a new data management plan to facilitate the preparation of the data management plan for researchers. She stated that the portal is currently under development.

Assoc. Prof. Taşkın introduced the Open Course Platform, which was developed to raise awareness of open science and related issues in Turkey, increase current knowledge, facilitate researchers' project processes, and contribute to the protection of scientific content produced with public funds. It was explained that in the system where there will be many courses ranging from using Aperta to responsible research and evaluating open papers, researchers could register on the platform and take the courses to take the exam and receive a certificate if they wish.
